DIOR: NAUTY GARDEN PARTY

It's hard to believe the couture shows have already arrived. But if what was seen on the runway of the Dior show is any indication of a much tamer (less over the top) season, then we can expect a similar modesty from designers to come. John Galliano's show reflective of the 1950s glamor spoke to themes of charm, power, and hints of sex. Body hugging silhouettes with translucent skirts and nude hoes. Soft hues of pinks, fruit inspired tones, beige's and nudes, and a dash of black and leopard brought the 1950s to a more prevalent time. An homage to Dior's "New Look" also was prevalent with the full skirt silhouette, padded shoulders, and nipped waists. Although the collection was safer for the larger than life king of extreme fashion, the show served as a nostalgic utopia and full circle celebration to the design house with so much history.
